Safer Recruitment

Thank you so much for being willing to volunteer your time, and to serve others through the groups and events we run at Christ Church, Newark. We really appreciate it.

In accordance with the Church of England Safeguarding Policy, our church is committed to:

 

  • Promoting a safer environment and culture.

  • Safely recruiting and supporting all those with any responsibility related to children, young people and vulnerable adults within the church.

  • Responding promptly to every safeguarding concern or allegation.

  • Caring pastorally for victims/survivors of abuse and other affected persons.

  • Caring pastorally for those who are the subject of concerns or allegations of abuse and other affected persons.

  • Responding to those that may pose a present risk to others.

Therefore, for roles involving a substantial amount of contact with children or vulnerable adults, we follow procedures as outlined in the Church of England's 'Code of Safer Recruitment'. 

You should have been provided with a role description for the position you are interested in. If not, please contact us to request one. ​Meanwhile, you will also need to read and complete the following documents:

If you would prefer paper versions of any of these documents, or if you have any questions as you fill these out, please speak with the Vicar (Paul Franklin) or the Parish Safeguarding Officer (Laura Kille). Return the forms to one of them once you have completed them. We will also need to apply for a DBS check at an appropriate level. You will be given further information about this in due course.

We don't want you to feel overwhelmed by this process, and we're here to support you as you work through the necessary steps. Please don't be offended that we have to carry out these checks and procedures, as these are part of our commitment to keeping the church safe.​

SAFEGUARDING

Ensuring that children, young people and vulnerable adults are kept safe whilst in our care is an integral part of our church life.
